Progress is being made ...

Here is my sun room off the art studio. Plans are to make window seats all around front 3 walls of windows. Classes will be held here for my retreats and workshops.
Plans are for a retreat next summer. Right now I have to first see when I will have my knee replacement surgery, before I can proceed with my plans. I will update as soon as I can set the date.
Below is the before picture.
The last picture is off the back porch.

Rockland Maine ... art mecca

So we are in Rockland, Maine for the month of April. There are so many art galleries and cool places to eat and listen to music. An old time movie theater. I will like this place.

We are looking for just the right property. We saw a beautiful 1767 colonial home with views of Lake Chickawaukie. The photo is from the living room.
It has 4 bedrooms for guest. A large dining room and a good size room to hold art workshops. It is less than 3 miles to the ocean. Because of it's age there are concerns about maintenance.

So we keep looking. Tomorrow we have 3 showings. So more to report soon.

First Sunrise in Maine

Our journey has begun to find the right place to hold art retreats. I'm on the boardwalk in Rockland Maine ... just down the street from our rental for this month. We have looked at 8 properties so far. 3 we want to look at with realtor. So much to see. The day is just beginning and it is a beautiful one! Enjoy yours wherever you are.

Seeing the Beautiful

I love this quote!

It amazes me every time I go out and hike our farm here in Ohio, I can just stand and feel so blessed. The beautiful birds singing and the hawks soaring above my head bring such peace to my soul. I love nature! It refreshes my spirit and renews my mind to the purpose of life.

I end every email and blog post with "Enjoy Life!" That does not mean every minute of every day is great. It means to find joy where you are.

Complaining and whining are so useless. Don't get me wrong I have been known to, but I catch myself and say OK what can I do to make this situation better. Cuz this isn't working!!

I can't wait to be in Maine and finding new beauty and joy in life!

Mixed Media Collage Project Video

This is one of the type of projects I want to do at my Art Gatherings at our Bed & Breakfast.
Here is a video of how I went about completing the project.

My Ireland Paris travel journal in video format

Here is my 2nd YouTube video. I am taking you through my travel journal I created before we left and took with me and then finished after coming home. I find it is best to take my journal with me so I can journal in the evenings. I look at the pictures I take during the day and get a feel for what I will include. We collect things all day too. So I create pages. I take decorative tape with me and a tape runner. I usually take some watercolor crayons. I didn't really use them this time. We were exhausted at the end of each day. It only took a few weeks to get pictures printed and then finish the journal when I got home.

I have always kept some type of record of vacations. It used to be only a written account. Once I got into scrapbooking I went back 10 years into my travel journals and created awesome scrapbooks. My sons could not believe the details of  my memories ... then I showed them the journal. They were so grateful for the very specific accounts of our family vacations put with pictures.
So I encourage everyone to keep journals. I have journaled my whole life... sometimes it is in the format of a daily calendar, but I also take time every month to write about life.
It has been really eye opening, while packing for our move, I took time to read through parts of my journals. I was writing about how cool it would be to run a bed & breakfast for the past 15 years. Each year there were multiple entries about this dream. And of course having an art studio to invite others to come to has been very consistent for the past 5 years. Just confirmation that I am on the right path ... even when it feels scary.

Ready to start living my dreams

We have sold our farm and are heading to Maine in April to look for just the right  place to continue what I have started here in Ohio.
We will by the mountains and hopefully on a lake. I will have my dream art studio. Large enough for at least 6 to hopefully 12 women to join me.
It's in God's hand to land us where we belong.
More details will be posted here as we following our dreams.

Enjoy Life!
